I created this song after a long hiatus from making music. I purposely chose to create this song quickly to recapture some of the thrill that comes from composing fast and furious and to retain a certain simple purity to it throughout.

This song goes through several different movements to tell a classic sci fi story. It begins with the tragedy of a Pearl Harbor style attack on a peace loving world. Somewhere in the dark recesses of this world, resistance fighters plan revenge. Forces are gathered and then a grand fleet begins the long and tedious voyage to attack at the heart of an enemy bent on genocide. Then, in a cataclysmic battle, they win back their freedom. The cost is high and the fruits of liberation bittersweet. The different sections of this song display very different styles that I think meld well together. I'd be hard pressed to place this song in one genre.

This is my homage to the very talented singer / songwriter
Justine Suissa of
OceanLab and collaborator
Above & Beyond. Suissa's haunting voice has earned her the title "Goddess of Trance" in some quarters. I credit her with being one of my early influences in vocal trance. Here, I've taken an extraction of Suissa's vocals from the well known "
Satellite" track and created a new version from scratch.

This was my first attempt to tell more of a story with the changes over the course of the song. It begins with a relaxed guitar piece and quickly switches to a fast-paced chase, with several twists and turns. I also wanted this to have primarily an accoustic flavor, with definite electronic undertones.

I wanted to make another higher-energy theme. This one winds through a variety of synths with various overlaps. The vocoded tripartite speech and arpegiation make for a sophisticated sound.

The sitar just spoke to me. The refrain came out as one piece almost instantly. The stanzas between the refrains tell little stories, with the refrain providing a steady and comforting rock you keep coming back to. If you're wondering about Maijishan, Google it.

This is just pure Trance whimsy. I wanted a good, basic dance anthem. The song takes lots of little turns with plenty of different instruments, but stays on a consistent track as it tells a story. Get up and dance, already!

This is actually a simple tune, but when turned into an arpeggio, its strong rhythm and
the swell of its haunting sound give it a strong energy and mythic feel.

This was my first attempt at a song using my own voice and a vocoder.
The effect is haunting. I intended to bump up the tempo a lot and make
a dance song, but the somber feel caught me and I just decided to
let it be what you hear now.
When you close your eyes
and the world goes quiet
do you still hear me
calling to you?
I'm the memory
that you can't be rid of
I'm the ghost that haunts you
to your last breath.
When you used to love me
Did you really love me?
I no longer can tell.
Will you soon regret me?
Will you soon forget me?
Does your memory grow dim?
I know better than
to be hoping that you
still can hear me
calling to you.
Still, I want to think
I was more than just a
passing moment in a life,
so fleeting.
When you used to love me
Did you really love me?
I no longer can tell.
Will you soon regret me?
Will you soon forget me?
Does your memory grow dim?

This is my first full length song ever. I never meant for it to come off
as a happy trance song, but I guess that's a good classification. I just
loved what the bells did to add character. The synthetic choir vocals are
just one of my odd quirks; I just like them. This is a celebration of
just some of the fun things I've learned to do with
Reason.

This started as a simple piano melody that grew into the swell of classical
instruments intertwining like vines. The choral voices add a soothing touch.

I fell in love with the mix of the
D:Fuse /
Jes
hit found on the
Femmes Fatales
album. I wanted to make my own dance mix of it. The plan was to add a heavy
beat and lots of creative elements, but I never got past chopping and
reassembling the vocals into this haunting multi-part piece.
This is what i speak to you
If you can listen.
I know that you're sleeping
But I think you can hear me.
Open your eyes
If you can listen.
Take a look at the sunrise.
I know now in the morning,
it's all come back to everything with you.
What im givin straight from you
Oh, it's makes the solution.
Every day you wonder.
All these little gifts from you.
Am i bringin enough through?
Can bring so much to me.
When the answers come to me
I opened up my eyes.
Open your eyes.
Take a look at the sunrise.
It's all come back to everything with you.
So bring on this new day.
Bring all i believe in.
Bring it with you
And with all that i see in this.
And whats forgiven
And what we can turn into,
What we have to, to contend with.
With you, always with you.
Oh, it's all come back to everything with you.

Spending days as the year turns.
Put your ear to the world.
Curious, my book of love
the house that I've given up.
I was at that place, so when you said yes, I was ready.
I was at that place, so when you said yes, I was there.
Restlessness when the weather breaks
How you feel when you just can't sleep.
At this spot out in the dark
Where the treeline hits the beach.
I was at that place, so when you said yes, I was ready.
I was at that place, so when you said yes, I was there.
Oh, I was at that place, so when you said yes, I was ready.
When you said yes; when you said yes, I was there.

Here's a solid dance theme that's a fresh new take on a classic
Moloko song. You
can listen to one of their own
original
versions of the song.
You're my last breath, you're a breath of fresh air to me.
I am empty so tell me you'll care for me.
You're the first thing and the last thing on my mind.
In your arms I feel sunshine.
